Steve & Ed - Dream Song (Rare 1975 US Psych Folk masterpiece)

Very great Psych Folk LP recorded in 1975 by Steve Hicks and Ed Rosiek.

A surprisingly good folk-pop LP on the vanity label Century that I picked up recently due to my "leave no stock cover behind" compulsion. The notes say it was recorded in a Los Angeles area church, and it has a sort of cavernous low-fi sound quality that I quite enjoy. Very soothing Simon & Garfunkel-esque harmonies on most tracks, with sparse, acoustic heavy arrangements. Recorded in 1975, but tracks like "I Love The Rain" could easily pass for late 60′s to my ears. The majestic, spoken title track is nice as well. (from waxidermy)

Listen : B1. Dream SongA2. I Love the Rain & A5. Where You Belong & A6. Susan (And With Her Comes Spring) & A1. There's No Gettin' Off NowA3. When I Was a Boy + B5. The Dream That Never Was

A top fave of mine ! Excellent LP from start to finish !!!

Jed - Merlin's Song (Very rare 1982 US Private Psych Folk masterpiece)

"Mystical, medieval folk songs played and sung very convincingly. And unlike some in the genre, I'm under the suspicion that the psych aspect is unintentional, but rather a natural setting for the songs that were written. This was recorded as some kind of educational project for a Florida based program specializing in all things from the Arthurian period. As far as the music, it's beautiful minor key folk with intricately woven male and female vocals. Fans of bands like Stone Angel, etc. would do well to track this down. Makes you want to dance with the jester". (taken from discogs)

Listen : A1. The Michaeline Hymn & A2. Winter's Glade & A3. The Palmer & A4. Rhiannon & B1. Riddling Maid & B2. Sand Dancer & B3. Morgan LeFay & B4. The Ballad of Bedivere & B5. Merlin's Song

Clayton F. Moore – Live From My Basement (Rare 1973 Canadian Private Downer Folk LP)

Original 1973 first pressing ... no more than a 500 private press and seldom seen. Produced in this cats basement, basically lost highway hippie loner delivering his wayward message backed by an interesting organ with effects, wah-wah type sound included. Absolutely falls into the "real people" bag - this is one comes from the core of that genre.

Clayton F. Moore was the keyboardist of Windsor Tunnel, a Canadian pop rock band who started out in Amherst, Nova Scotia as The Viscounts, and who changed their name after moving to Windsor, Ontario.

Jill Cislaghi - Friends of Mine (Very rare 1977 US Folk masterpiece released on Fleetwood Records)

One of my top ten US privately pressed LPs !
Jill Cislaghi wrote and recorded her only album in her senior year in 1977 at Regis College, in Massachusetts near where she grew up.
Cislaghi pressed 500 copies on Massachusetts' own vanity custom-pressing plant Fleetwood Recording Co. She made this record for her friends and wound up selling nearly every copy at her college, so this LP is incredibly hard to come by now.

Listen : A1. July 20th

A2. Shine Your Light

& B2. Jesse

B3. Sweet November

& A3. Don't Make Me Just Another Memory

B5. For Bea (My Grandmother)

A really great album ! Most of the songs are solemn and haunting. Very beautiful. Collectors of loner/outsider music as well as those dedicated to Acid Archives will truly love this rare bird.
