Stephen Raley - Won't You Hurry Us Home ... Wish We'd All Been Ready (Excellent 1971? US Xian Loner Folk LP)

Totally obscure Californian loner folk psych issued on Angelus (same label than Fraction).
A couple of 100 made at max.
Deep introspective vocals with a Clive Palmer feeling.
Very great and rare album !

Recently discovered excellent early 1970's Xian folk private on the Angelus label.
This is (in my opinion) one of the 10 most significant Christian folk records ever released.
About half the tracks have a darker Tim Buckley-like loner folk edge, but really the whole thing is great. This would certainly be listed in Acid Archives if they ever did a 3rd edition. (reviewed by ebay seller)

The Troubadors - Ned o' the Hill (1975 UK Psych Folk issued on Silver Hill)

This is the only album recorded by The Troubadors, a Birmingham based folk ballad and harmony group. Recorded in Harlesden, London in early December 1974, this album represented a departure from the music they built their reputation on, learning 8 new songs out of the 10 tracks on the album.
The band members included lead singer, Pat Mulligan, Johnny Foley (d. 2007), Jimmy O'Donnell, Gerry McElroy and Dave Trueman. They played mainly in the Midlands as well as in Liverpool, Leeds, Newport and Cardiff, as well as Oxford etc.
This album is a pure, clean and tightly produced combination of popular and more rarely recorded songs. It was released in October 1975 and was well received. In 1975, Terry Wogan chose this album as his record of the week on his highly regarded and popular Radio 2 Breakfast show.
No higher recommendation is needed to commend this fine album.
Do yourself a favour and grab yourself a copy !

Chris Freeman - Shifting Sands (Rare 1978 Australian Private Outsider Folk Synth LP)

Possibly the most difficult album to track down by virtuoso Australian guitarist Chris Freeman.
Outsider fingerstyle folk with studio effects.

A great LP in my opinion !

Merruwyn - Live at the Grosvenor (Rare 1974 UK Folk LP on Fanfare)

In my opinion "Where the Lightning Ends" is one of the best Acid Folk tracks I have ever heard.
I would put it alongside "The garden of Jane Delawney" by Trees and "Silver Song" by Mellow Candle. Magical !

Merruwyn was a folk duo from Kent - Ann Galvin and Theresa O' Brien.

Listen to these two tracks on youtube - unfortunately the second track "Where the Lightning Ends" is not complete :

Record : VG (Side A) to VG++ (Side B)
The record looks nice, but there is a small claw (or a small defect of pressing) invisible to the naked eye in the middle of the third track A-side. And this claw (or this defect) causes a small jump of the needle that, despite all my efforts (I cleaned the disc several times), I can not eliminate.

David Mattson - August Reunion - aka Dave Mattson (Ultra rare and excellent 1975 US Private Loner Folk LP)

Really an incredible album that still remains unknown even among collectors' circles.
Extremely small pressing from 1975.

A little masterpiece in my opinion and really a grower !
